The New Representative of the UN Met with Head of the Office of the MFA in Mashhad

On Monday Mehr 23 and during his first days in office Mr. Dhananjaya Bhattarai the new head of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Holy Mashhad met and spoke with Mr. Masoomifar Advisor to the Minister and Head of the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On Monday, Mehr 23 and during his first days in office, Mr. Dhananjaya Bhattarai, the new head of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Holy Mashhad, met and spoke with Mr. Masoomifar, Advisor to the Minister and Head of the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In this meeting, Mr. Dhananjaya Bhattarai, while expressing gladness about being in the Islamic Republic of Iran and beginning his work in Mashhad, expressed his hope that as before, cooperation between organizations with regard to foreign immigrants would continue. Mr. Masoomifar, while welcoming the new head of UNHCR and expressing hope that during his office cooperation regarding foreign immigrants would increase, stressed the fact that oppressing sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran had been negatively affecting the lives of Iranians and consequently foreign immigrants, and asked for the participation of international organizations with regard to foreign immigrants. He further added, “Because of humanitarian principles, the Islamic Republic of Iran is host to millions of aliens and foreign immigrants; yet our definite policy is that immigrants who have illegally entered the country or those with illegal residence must leave the country promptly.”
