Conference of Mayors Participating in BRICS Summit in Kazan Russia Attended by National High Coordinator and BRICS Official of the MFA

On Thursday, Azar 1, 1403, through the arrangements by Mashhad Municipality and the Office of the MFA in the North and East, the Conference of the Mayors Participating in BRICS+ Summit in Kazan, Russia was held at and hosted by the Municipality of Mashhad, attended by Dr. Samadzadeh Saber, National High Coordinator and BRICS Official of the MFA; Mr. Ghalandar Sharif, Mashhad Mayor; Mr. Nasehi, Chairman of Mashhad Islamic City Council; and officials from municipalities of our country’s metropolises attending BRICS+ Summit in Kazan, Russia. In this conference Mr. Ghalandar Sharif introduced the position of the municipality in international organizations including World Association of the Major Metropolises and United Cities Organization and Local Governments; measures and actions of Mashhad Municipality in this regard; actions for pilgrims, especially for more than 3 million foreign pilgrims; the opportunities and potentials of the Metropolis of Blessing and Generosity; and emphasized on the readiness for active participation in and taking advantage of opportunities and potentials of BRICS Organization. Dr. Masoomifar stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s memberships in organizations such as BRICS and Shanghai were a historical opportunity for our country and added that considering the great historical-civilizational and cultural-tourism potentials and also the advancements having taken place in city management in the metropolises of our country, especially Holy Mashhad, the potentials of BRICS for the introduction of cities and also exchange of experience must be used. In continuation, Dr. Samadzadeh Saber also introduced the opportunities and potentials of BRICS Organization and stated that the metropolises of our country, in accordance with their potentials and talent, could share in the organization and use its opportunities. Also financial-economic and public-cultural potentials of BRICS could be suitable for the activities of municipalities. In the end, the mayors and municipality officials of BRICS+ metropolises presented reports on their service area and expressed their readiness for more coordination and the founding of the secretariat of BRICS+ metropolises. At the closing of the conference the commemorative letter of the Conference of Mayors and National High Coordinator of BRICS was signed.
